THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) Approaching the 200m CAPTAIN'S CHRISTY (C F Dicken) was steadied when carried in towards the heels of FIRST ORIGIN (C Little) by CONNERY (*D D Louw) which commenced to hang in and shifted in. Thereafter, leaving the 100m, VIHAAN'S WEB (S Khumalo) and COWBOY COUNTRY (R A Venniker) were steadied to avoid the heels of CONNERY (*D D Louw) which continued to shift in. b) Apprentice D D Louw signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he as the rider of CONNERY, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to a number of runners when he shifted in from the 300m. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days was imposed. (Suspension dates : 29.01.2026 - 04.02.2026). c) Approaching the 150m DONQUERARI (C Maujean) was directed inwards, away from the heels of FIRST ORIGIN (C Little) which hung in from the 300m. d) HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Zietsman acting on behalf of Trainer A Wright was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) VIHAAN'S WEB raced equipped with blinkers (advised 07.01.2026/07h51).
