THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within ethe required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h50) b) Jockey C Litte reported that WOMAN IN GOLD, which over raced in the early stages, made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) UP IN FLAMES (G Lerena) and WAIT FOR ME (R Fourie) raced wide on the turn. d) At the 250m UP IN FLAMES (G Lerena), which had come to the end of its run, was brushed on the hindquarters by WOMAN IN GOLD (C Little), which shifted out slightly and then was steadied away from the heels of WAIT FOR ME (R Fourie), which was carried inwards by GOLD GOLD BABY (K de Melo), which shifted in and was immediately straightened. e) In view of the performance of SPIRIT OF NICAL (L Mxothwa), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GIDDY UP GRACE (JP van der Merwe), Trainer C Bass will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of HOMING PIGEON he misused his crop by striking HOMING PIGEON more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Zackey signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3 000,00. h) LARK'S SONG, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
