The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race and due to GREEN MILE (K de Melo) being subject to a late Veterinary examination at the start as well as the tongue tie on BLAZING LIGHT (T Godden) being refitted at the start. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STATE CAPITOL (*D D Louw) lost 2 lengths. b) CIRCLE OF GRACE (M V'Rensburg) jumped awkwardly, losing 3 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Approaching the 300m NOW I GOT YOU (*S Bungane) was brushed by BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel) which was directed away from the heels of ZOOMBOMBER (S Khumalo) which rolled out. c) Apprentice D D Louw reported that STATE CAPITOL took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey S Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that, as the rider of ZOOMBOMBER, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R4000 was imposed. e) BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Ryan acting on behalf of Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (MM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
