THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) VOORSMAAKIE (*B Marx-Jacobson) jumped slow, losing one length.
b) ENDEARED (*KJ Lihaba) jumped awkwardly, losing one length.
c) IZANAMI (*N Yuen) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h11)
b) GAELIC DANCER (*W Fourie) was switched out sharply for no apparent reason between the 250m and the 200m and again between the 150m and the 100m. Apprentice W Fourie appeared before the Board and was questioned as to the reason for the above movements. She could offer the Board no explanation. The Stewards advised her against the practice of switching her mounts when there is no reason to do so.
She, however, further advised the Stewards that her saddle had slipped backwards in running, making it difficult for her to assist her mount. This was confirmed on the patrol film.
c) POMODORO MAGIC (*J Botes) was hanging in from the 200m.
d) Apprentice N Nastili reported that FARAWAY GIRL did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e) Apprentice I Taka did not persevere with his riding of CITY OF DREAMS in the latter stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Apprentice I Taka was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride CITY OF DREAMS out to the end of the race, where circumstances permitted, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining 4th place. Apprentice I Taka signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended for a period of fourteen (14) days. (Dates to be advised)
f) IZANAMI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
