THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ALADO'S PRIDE (*B Marx-Jacobson) and PYROMANIAC (*W Fourie) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) HAT TRICK OR TREAT (*EJ Muller) jumped awkwardly, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (16h02) b) Apprentice W Fourie (PYROMANIAC) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. c) Approaching the 1600m, the front runners put a significant distance between themselves and the rest of the field, who made no effort to keep in touch with them. As a consequence, this race was run in two distinct parts. All the apprentices who participated in this race appeared before the Board, in the presence of their Academy Riding Master, and were strongly advised to be more aware of where other runners are in the race and to ride in such a manner so as to allow their mounts to be competitive in the race, particularly in the straight. d) PYROMANIAC (*W Fourie) returned with a unilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J de Villiers) e) MAKHACHEV, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
