THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUICKSMART (S Moodley), CAPTAIN VAN DAMME (D Daniels) and DONMAGOO (C F Dicken) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels after THIRTEEN FOURTEEN was cleared following a second test. b) BLUE STEEL (A Fortune) failed to parade in front of the grandstand. Assistant Trainer T Fripp was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in the future, it may be suspended. c) Shortly after the start THIRTEEN FOURTEEN (C Zackey) was inconvenienced between the heels of OWNER OF CREATION (T Godden) and the heels of BLUE STEEL (A Fortune) which jumped inwards leaving the starting stalls. Thereafter THIRTEEN FOURTEEN (C Zackey) over-raced in the early stages. d) At the 300m OWNER OF CREATION (T Godden) was switched out away from the heels of BLUE STEEL (A Fortune) which shifted in. Jockey A Fortune appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to be aware of the proximity of other runners when shifting ground in races in future. e) Jockey C Habib reported that TASK FORCE made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey D Daniels (CAPTAIN VAN DAMME) did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. Thereafter he reported that this gelding choked up in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) DUBAI DUDE (M Michel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (MM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey D Daniels was the rider of CAPTAIN VAN DAMME (advised 24.01.2026/10h03). b) THIRTEEN FOURTEEN raced equipped with blinkers (advised 21.01.2026/10h32). c) Jockey C Habib was the rider of TASK FORCE. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) TASK FORCE : Nothing obvious detected. b) CAPTAIN VAN DAMME : Abnormal respiratory noise and not striding out left front. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
