THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO COMIC ARTIST (S MOODLEY) BEING SUBJECT TO A LATE VETERINARY EXAMINATION AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEING SCRATCHED, AS WELL AS ASIAH'S TIARA (*T MAYHEW) PROVING DIFFICULT TO LOAD.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ASIAH'S TIARA (*T Mayhew) was difficult to load. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer C Mayhew was advised (GT).
b) COME TOGETHER (*K J Lihaba) and SHADOWLINE (*B Marx-Jacobson) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded.
b) RED ENCHANTRESS (D Schwarz) took a number of awkward strides in running. Thereafter, Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
c) In view of the performance of LUCKY CHANCE (M Yeni), (distance 11,70 lengths, betting 33/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of VIXENINTHEVINEYARD, misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (15), which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race.
Jockey K Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt, and a fine of R6,750 was imposed.
e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ASIAH'S TIARA, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion.
Suspension dates: 28 January 2026 to 3 February 2026. ASIAH'S TIARA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Mayhew was advised.
f) CHICKASAW (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

a) COOL REGGAE was ridden by Jockey J Penny (declared 27 January 2026 at 07H12).
b) HAT AND HEELS was ridden by Jockey K de Melo (declared 27 January 2026 at 07H46).
