The start of this race was delayed due to the track staff having to retrieve a cast shoe from the track. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FATE OF FORTUNE (K de Melo) was stubborn to load. Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) MAGIC SURPRISE (R A Venniker) hung in and shifted in from the 300m. c) WINTER WAVES (*D Pillay) hung in from the 150m. d) Jockeys S Veale (RAFA'S BOY) and J Gates (TAKE YOUR PLACE) reported that they felt something amiss in the running with their respective mounts. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Trainer D Zaki signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1, in that he failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for the horse TAKE YOUR PLACE. Accordingly, a warning was issued. f) MAGIC SURPRISE (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D I Campbell was advised (MM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) PASSAGE OF POWER raced equipped with blinkers (advised 24.01.2026/14h51).
