DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (*S BUNGANE) WAS UNRULY, REARED IN THE STALLS, RESULTING IN THE SADDLE SLIPPING SIDEWAYS. THIS GELDING WAS REMOVED FROM THE STALLS FOR THE SADDLE TO BE REFITTED AND RELOADED. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (*S Bungane) reared in the stalls. b) COSMIC STAR (M Yeni) was slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) In the concluding stages, AFRICAN PRIDE (*T Mayhew) was steadied when awkwardly placed between RAFA BAY (*B Marx-Jacobson), which hung in from the 200m, and MAGIC TATTOO (C Zackey), which was carried out by NIGHT BOMBER (D Schwarz), which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately corrected. The Board, after giving regard to this incident, was of the opinion that blame could not be apportioned to any individual rider and deemed this to be a racing incident and therefore took no further action. c) MOVER AND SHAKER (*M Mbuto), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) RAFA BAY: Apprentice B Marx-Jacobson weighed out at 50,4kg, only claiming 2,5kg of his 4kg apprentice allowance. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) NIGHT BOMBER raced without blinkers (declared 23 January 2026 at 11H08). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) COSMIC STAR not striding out in front. b) SHELDON returned with its tongue over the bit. c) MAGIC TATTOO cut into right hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
