THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MATT'S WARRIOR (*B Soodoo) stood awkwardly in the stalls. b) STRAIGHT RED (E Webber) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h33) b) Shortly after the start STRAIGHT RED (E Webber) had to be steadied and directed sharply inwards towards the inside running rail to avoid running onto the heels of MATT'S WARRIOR (*B Soodoo). Thereafter, STRAIGHT RED (E Webber) had to be steadied off the heels of SALAGADOOLA (C Little) when awkwardly placed between the inside running rail and NUCLEAR POWER (X Ndlovu) when he placed himself in an awkward position. Jockeys E Webber and C Little appeared before the Board to account for the above incident. It was established that Jockey E Webber had put himself in a potentially hazardous position and no blame could be attached to Jockeys C Little (SALAGADOOLA) and X Ndlovu (NUCLEAR POWER). Jockey E Webber was reprimanded by the Stewards as to the manner in which he rode his mount. He was further advised to not put himself in a position where he could be a potential source of danger to himself and his fellow Riders. c) AM STILL WINNING (C Maujean) and MATT'S WARRIOR (*B Soodoo) were hanging in from the 200m. d) Jockey M van Rensburg was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on STRAIGHT RED, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Jockey M van Rensburg signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. e) BOMBER BAY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised.
