THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, VALIEVA (M Yeni) put her head in the adjacent starting stall, which was corrected by the Handler allocated to her. Thereafter, this filly was slow, losing two lengths. Trainer F Bronkhorst was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Jockey K de Melo (STORMY DAY (ARG) did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) TUSCAN ROMANCE (K Matsunyane) hung in in the concluding stages. d) Jockey J R Syster was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of CALANTHA, misused his crop by striking this mare more than twelve times (13), which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey J R Syster signed an Admission of Guilt, and a fine of R2000 was imposed. e) CALANTHA (J R Syster), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P Dlhamini, acting on behalf of Trainers M/M de Kock, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) TUSCAN ROMANCE raced equipped with cheek pieces (declared 9 February 2026 at 08H10).
