CORRIDO and MASTER SUPREME were slow into stride. FINAL OCCASION was slow losing one length. ROCKY PATH hung out from the 400m and thereafter Apprentice Gates reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Khumalo reported that KURT'S APPROVAL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. At approximately the 300m, RIGA D'ORA whose rider dropped his right-side rein, had to steady when awkwardly placed between KURT'S APPROVAL which rolled out and MASTER SUPREME which shifted in and was straightened. MASTER SUPREME was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding his ride on OUR MAN IN HAVANA, with particular reference to the change of tactics, Jockey Strydom explained to the Board that it was not his intention to sit as far back as he had done in the early stages, however, this gelding lacked early pace and as a consequence of this, other runners were able to get in better positions then him. Therefore he was forced to sit further back than he had intended. Mr Strydom also expressed an opinion where he highlighted that this gelding's only other run on the inside track at Turffontein had been most disappointing and that OUR MAN IN HAVANA was better suited to a more galloping track. When questioned regarding the riding instructions given to Jockey Strydom, Trainer Habib explained to the Board that his instructions were for Jockey Strydom to go to the front and thereafter to give the horse a breather around the turn. The Board have adjourned to review this race. Vet: ROCKY PATH - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. KURT'S APPROVAL - not striding out right front and no respiratory noise detected post race.
