THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPARKLING SKY (*B Plaatjies) was reluctant to load. b) AURELIAN (A Fortune) was restless in the stalls. c) KIERA ROSE (A Domeyer) and BEFORE SUNRISE (S Veale) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FUTURE RED (R Fourie) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer J Crawford was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended. b) There was a delay in the release of the official all-clear due to an interrupted internet connection in the boardroom. c) Shortly after the start SPARKLING SKY (*B Plaatjies) and EPERNAY (*S Bungane) made contact when both horses shifted ground marginally. d) DIVINE STATE (G van Niekerk) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. e) Approaching the 800m FUTURE RED (R Fourie) commenced to over race, raced onto the heels of EPERNAY (*S Bungane), had to be checked and shifted out sharply. As a consequence, FUTURE RED (R Fourie) raced wide on the turn for a short distance. f) At the 250m BEFORE SUNRISE (S Veale) had to be checked away from the heels of EPERNAY (*S Bungane), which was directed inwards when insufficiently clear. Apprentice S Bungane was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of EPERNAY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BEFORE SUNRISE at the 250m. Apprentice S Bungane signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 15/02/2026 - 21/02/2026, both dates inclusive) g) EBISU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Woodruff was advised. (SC) h) FUTURE RED, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) Nil.
