During the loading process RIFF RAFF ROY (M Thackeray) became restless in the stalls. This gelding was released from the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the start of this race.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) RIFF RAFF BOY (M Thackeray) was restless in the stalls, released, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
b) QUEST OF VALOR (R A Venniker), LAST SUPERMAN (*M Mbuto) and ROCCO'S PEACE (K de Melo) lost 1 length.
c) CAPTAIN JOSH (C Habib) lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) The Board has adjourned to review the patrol footage of an incident that led to Jockey S Hlengwa (AFRICAN RUBY) being dislodged at the 1100m.
c) Jockey S Hlengwa was attended to by the Course Paramedics and was transported to the medical centre for further assessment by the Medical Officer. In view of this, Jockey S Hlengwa (AFRICAN RUBY) was precluded from weighing in and in terms of Rule 66.2, the Board deemed his weight to be correct.
d) CAPTAIN JOSH (C Habib) raced green.
e) Jockeys M Michel (SMART CHOICE), K de Melo (ROCCO'S PEACE) and C Little (OMKHULU BOSS) reported that their respective mounts took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) STEAMY WINDOWS (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M D Miller was advised (MM).

a) BETTTER NEVER ENDS raced equipped with blinkers (advised 13.02.2026/11h31).
