THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) KENTUCKY LASSIE (W Agrella) was stubborn loading and slow into stride.
b) LANA VIEW (*J Botes) was nervous in the stalls, kicked the back gates and was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Permission was granted for LYRICS AND SONGS (*I Taka) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start.
b) LANA VIEW (*J Botes) clipped the heels of LYRICS AND SONGS (*I Taka), which shifted outwards shortly after the start.
c) CHAMPAGNE BLAZE (R Fourie) and LYRICS AND SONGS (*I Taka) over raced in the early and middle stages.
d) Leaving the 300m, TOUCH THE SWORD (E Webber) shifted inwards and carried LANA VIEW (*J Botes) inwards, which in turn carried WITCHING HOUR (A Fortune) inwards. Thereafter, LANA VIEW (*J Botes) was eased and switched outwards to continue with his run. In this incident, WITCHING HOUR (A Fortune) raced onto and clipped the heels of TRULY MAGICAL (M Yeni), stumbled, became unbalanced and Jockey A Fortune was dislodged from WITCHING HOUR.
Jockey A Fortune was tended to on course by the paramedics. This precluded Jockey A Fortune from being able to weigh in. In terms of Rule 66.2 the Stewards were satisfied that WITCHING HOUR had carried the correct weight.
Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of TOUCH THE SWORD, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to LANA VIEW, WITCHING HOUR and TRULY MAGICAL leaving the 300m. Jockey E Webber signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 14 days. (Dates: 07/03/2026 to 20/03/2026, both dates inclusive.)
e) Apprentice J Botes (LANA VIEW) accidentally dropped his crop at the 250m.

Trainer TJ Laing was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
g) Jockey M Yeni reported that TRULY MAGICAL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Trainer TJ Laing was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
