THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LA BOHEME (R Fourie) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay.
b) BOOGY (C Zackey) and MARGATE (J Solomons) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) PEACE GARLAND (O Noach) took an awkward stride shortly after the start.
b) SPARKLING STAR (A Domeyer) and SNOWBIRD (S Veale) made contact shortly after the start.
c) At the 150m SNOWBIRD (S Veale), which showed a tendency to hang out, shifted out and was steadied briefly away from the heels of SPARKLING STAR (A Domeyer), which shifted in slightly.
d) EYECATCHER (K de Melo) and MARGATE (J Solomons), both of which raced green, brushed approaching the 50m.
e) SHEZARIPPER (L Mxothwa) and SPARKLING STAR (A Domeyer) brushed leaving the 50m.
f) TOO FAST TO FIESTA (C Little) raced green.
g) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with POLAR EXPEDITION. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
h) In view of the performance of EYECATCHER (K de Melo) (Betting 5/2; Distance 4.25 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
i) In view of the report from the Starter regarding LA BOHEME (R Fourie), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to load on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 23/02/2026 to 01/03/2026 inclusive) LA BOHEME may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
j) SHEZARIPPER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised. (TJ)
