THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL DESIRE (M Mjoka) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h27) b) Shortly after the start STARTING POINT (R Fourie) was carried inwards and made heavy contact with LOVE HER MADLY (C Zackey) when SWIFT SERENITY (C Orffer) jumped inwards. As a consequence, FIRST KISS (S Veale) was taken inwards and had to be steadied away from the heels of SCANDALIZE (C Little), which shifted out marginally. c) DELAROCHE (C Murray) got its head up on a number of occasions while attempting to get cover in the early stages. d) SWIFT SERENITY (C Orffer) was hanging out and shifted out from the 200m. e) The saddle on STARTING POINT (R Fourie), which was hanging out, shifted sideways in the concluding stages, which Jockey R Fourie corrected at the finish. f) Jockey C Zackey reported that the tongue tie fitted to LOVE HER MADLY became partially undone in running and that this filly made an abnormal respiratory noise. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) STARTING POINT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised. (ZM) h) SWIFT SERENITY, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) FIRST KISS raced with blinkers. (declared 07h52 on 20260221) b) ROYAL DESIRE raced with a tongue tie. (declared 07h09 on 20260218) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PENNYS CHOICE: Stone Hill Stud (Nom: Mr H C W Rix) Colours: Lime green, black diamond, lime green sleeves and cap, black diamond. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LOVE HER MADLY - examined post-race. Abnormal respiratory noise/blowing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
