THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, SHERIFF JOHN STONE (M van Rensburg) lifted its left front shoe. As a consequence, the horses were unloaded while the shoe was refitted, causing a delay. b) BLACKBERRY MALT (C Little) and DAWN TILL DUSK (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 400m TOP QUALITY (R Piechulek) was directed outwards away from HANDSOME PRINCE (M Yeni), clipped the heels of NOBLE CITY (K de Melo) and stumbled. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine TOP QUALITY (R Piechulek). After this incident, Jockey K de Melo reported that NOBLE CITY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) CHASINGTHERAINBOW (L Mxothwa) was hanging out from the 400m and shifted out continually until the finish. c) CHASINGTHERAINBOW, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
