THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROCCAPINA (S Moodley) jumped outwards, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h03) b) SWIATEK (R Fourie) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) Leaving the 400m CALL ME SECRET (JP van der Merwe) and VIVA LA VIDA (S Veale) were carried outwards marginally by SCARLET MACAW (G van Niekerk), which was held up and was directed outwards into clear running. d) Leaving the 200m SWIATEK (R Fourie) was steadied for a number of strides when unable to secure clear running between STORMWATCH (G Lerena) and PRINCESS OF GAUL (C Zackey). e) At the 150m ROCCAPINA (S Moodley), which showed a tendency to hang out, rolled out, brushed BABELICIOUS (A Domeyer) and was immediately straightened. Shortly thereafter, BABELICIOUS (A Domeyer) had to be checked, losing momentum, when close to the heels of STORMWATCH (G Lerena), which shifted in. Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of STORMWATCH, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BABELICIOUS approaching the 100m. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates to be advised.) f) PRINCESS OF GAUL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised. (HM) g) STORMWATCH, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised. (TJ) h) ROCCAPINA, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) Nil.
