THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TOBACCONIST (N Patel) was slow into stride. b) MISTER NIBBLES (*D Pillay) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels after TOBACCONIST passed following a second test. b) Approaching the 1200m, WICCAN WARRIOR (S Khumalo) was briefly inconvenienced between the inside running rail and the heels of TYRCONNELL (S Veale), which rolled in. c) QUEUE WING (*M Mbuto) hung in from the 300m. d) Approaching the 200m TOBACCONIST (N Patel) was steadied when awkwardly placed between MISTER NIBBLES (*D Pillay) which rolled in away from JP'S PALACE (R A Venniker), and the heels of TERMINATOR (S Moodley). e) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of WICCAN WARRIOR (S Khumalo) (10.75 lengths, 14/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Apprentice M Mbuto (QUEUE WING), accompanied by Riding Master Mr M Curtis, appeared before the Board and was advised that although the use of his crop fell within the parameters of the current transition period, the revised use of the crop Rules and penalty framework will take effect on the 1st of April 2026. h) JP'S PALACE (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
