THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLUSHING BLOOM (*B Marx-Jacobson) was restless in the stalls. b) TITAN OF THE TURF (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Shortly after the start, STONEYWOOD (M van Rensburg) was bumped by TITAN OF THE TURF (C Zackey), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) Shortly after the start, BLUSHING BLOOM (*B Marx-Jacobson) and PALACE PRINCE (M Yeni), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls, came together and bumped. d) Jockey C Zackey (TITAN OF THE TURF) did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey C Zackey reported that this colt made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) SPEEDMAN (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BLUSHING BLOOM was ridden by Apprentice B Marx-Jacobson, who only claimed 2,5kg of his apprentice allowance; there was also 0,5kg of overweight declared, which resulted in him weighing out at 50,6kg (declared 5 March 2026 at 09H08). Jockey K de Melo was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse BLUSHING BLOOM, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with Trainer J J van Vuuren. Jockey K de Melo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1,000. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None.
