THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VAVA VEGAS (J R Syster) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) LAVA FIRE (P Mxoli) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. c) In view of the performance of READY SET FIRE (G Lerena), (distance 9,70 lengths, betting 18/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) LAVA FIRE (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer T Zackey advised (MduP). When questioned regarding the improved performance of LAVA FIRE, Trainer T Zackey explained to the Board that the removal of the blinkers and adopting more conservative tactics by racing from off the pace had accounted for the improvement. Trainer T Zackey has undertaken to use similar tactics and race this gelding similarly equipped in future. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LAVA FIRE raced without blinkers (declared 3 March 2026 at 07H40). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) READY SET FIRE not striding out right front.
