PLAY SOCCER 6, 10 AND 13 OPEN MAIDEN (For Maidens)

THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WARRIOR'S EDGE (C Little) was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls and jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) LATIN QUARTER (MK Katjedi) was stubborn loading and slow into stride. c) ONE SUMMER (Y Ramzan) jumped awkwardly inwards. d) MAKAJIMA (R Fourie) was restless in the stalls, stood awkwardly and jumped inwards leaving the stalls. e) MYSTIC VISION (C Zackey) jumped awkwardly outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h40) b) Permission was granted for WARRIOR'S EDGE (C Little) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) Shortly after the start BUGLE (C Maujean) was carried inwards by WARRIOR'S EDGE (C Little), which jumped inwards. d) Shortly after the start MYSTIC VISION (C Zackey), which jumped outwards, made contact with MAKAJIMA (R Fourie), which jumped inwards. e) Leaving the 800m Jockey R Fourie felt something amiss with MAKAJIMA, did not persevere with his riding and eased this gelding out of the race. Thereafter, at approximately the 400m, Jockey R Fourie jumped off MAKAJIMA and fell when this gelding shifted sharply inwards towards the inside running rail. This precluded Jockey R Fourie from being able to weigh in. In terms of Rule 66.2 the Stewards were satisfied that MAKAJIMA had carried the correct weight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) BUGLE (C Maujean) was carried inwards by ONE SUMMER (Y Ramzan), which shifted inwards at approximately the 500m. Thereafter, BUGLE (C Maujean) commenced to shift inwards and was immediately corrected. g) Leaving the 300m ONE SUMMER (Y Ramzan) shifted out away from the crop and carried KHICHDI (S Naidoo) outwards for a number of strides. Jockey Y Ramzan appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mounts on a straight course. h) MYSTIC VISION (C Zackey) was hanging outwards in the latter stages and shifted outwards shortly before the finish line. i) BUGLE (C Maujean) shifted sharply outwards shortly before the finish line and had to be steadied off the heels of MYSTIC VISION (C Zackey). j) FROM THE HIP (*B Soodoo) was hanging in from the 400m and was corrected at the 250m. k) Jockey C Little reported that he felt something amiss with WARRIOR'S EDGE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. l) MYSTIC VISION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. Coughing & stirrup rub right side. b) WARRIOR'S EDGE - examined post-race. Not striding out left hind. c) LATIN QUARTER - coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
