PILGRIM'S PROGRESS and BALLET SHOES were slow losing one length. RABIA THE REBEL fly-jumped leaving the stalls. Shortly after the start, Apprentice Gates, the rider of JIVE EXPRESS, lost his left-side footing placing him at a disadvantage and eased his mount out of the race at the 1200m. A member of the Stipendiary Board inspected Apprentice Gate's equipment and established that the buckle on the stirrup leather broke. Jockey Kennedy reported that TOBEFAIR (AUS) did not stride out freely in running. LITTLEWOOD was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: TOBEFAIR (AUS) - not striding out right front.
