THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) QUENTASIA (*M Mbuto) was stubborn to load and restless in the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) Shortly after the start RED HOT KISSES (M Yeni) and SNOW QUEEN (S Khumalo) came together and brushed.
c) At the 150m WHATASTAR (S Moodley) was directed away from the heels of QUEEN'S PACT (R A Venniker) to continue its run. Thereafter Jockey S Moodley reported that WHATASTAR did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that SNOW QUEEN refused to raise a gallop and took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer A A Azzie will be asked to report back on the condition of SNOW QUEEN on return to stables.
e) Jockey C Habib (SUN IN MY POCKET) appeared before the Board with regard to his riding in this race. Mr Habib explained that this filly has a short finishing effort when encouraged vigorously in races. He further explained that after obtaining a mid-field position from a wide draw, he rode SUN IN MY POCKET quietly with the hands in the early part of the straight, and after asking her for a finishing effort at the 200m there was a limited response from this filly. The Board accepted Mr Habib's explanation. However, he was advised that should he ride a horse in a manner that deviates from the norm in future, he should notify the Stewards prior to the running of the race in question. In addition, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine SUN IN MY POCKET.
f) MAGICAL SKY (*D Pillay), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer K Wright acting on behalf of Trainer A Wright was advised (MM).
