THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) JAMBO SANA (C Zackey) was fractious in the stalls, rushed the front gates, fly-jumped leaving the stalls and was slow into stride.
b) POMODORO MAGIC (*B Soodoo) rushed the front gates, fly-jumped leaving the stalls and was slow into stride.
c) MIDNIGHT MUSIC (W Agrella) jumped sharply inwards.
d) AMANATTO (R Fourie) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h58)
b) The Starter requested a review of the start as there was a delay between the time he pushed the start button and the opening of the starting stall gates.
The saddle on JAMBO SANA (C Zackey), which was fractious in the stalls and fly-jumped leaving the stalls, slipped sideways, which resulted in Jockey C Zackey briefly losing the footing to his right-side stirrup iron, placing him at a disadvantage.
Jockey C Zackey requested a review of the start with regard to the above incident.
The Stewards, after reviewing the patrol film and interviewing the Starter and Jockey C Zackey, were satisfied that all horses had jumped on terms and took no further action.
c) Shortly after the start, POMODORO MAGIC (*B Soodoo) was squeezed between JAMBO SANA (C Zackey) and MIDNIGHT MUSIC (W Agrella), which jumped sharply inwards.
d) Shortly after the start BETWEEN THE LINES (C Little) was bumped inwards slightly by COLORAMA (MK Katjedi)
e) DANCING IN WINTER (G Wright), which raced in isolation on the back straight, raced wide on the turn. Thereafter, Jockey G Wright allowed this mare to shift inwards and thereafter, eased the pace of the race, which resulted in BLOWIN IN THE WIND (S Khumalo) and BETWEEN THE LINES (C Little) having to be steadied momentarily at the 700m.
Jockey G Wright appeared before the Board and was advised to maintain a consistent pace when racing at the front of the field.
f) MIDNIGHT MUSIC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised. (LM)
