THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GREAT RIFT VALLEY (K de Melo) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow into stride. b) STAGE ONE (M Michel) and THE NAME OF DLADLA (S Khumalo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) This Race was run in rain. c) Shortly after the start, PARACHUTE ADAMS (M Yeni) was bumped outwards by STAGE ONE (M Michel), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. d) STAGE ONE (M Michel) over-raced in the early and middle stages and, as a consequence, raced wide around the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, this gelding tired from the 300m. e) Jockey C Ngcobo, the rider of EHHFIFTEENKJOE, briefly dropped his left-side rein at the 300m. f) Jockey P Mxoli, the rider of WHAT A WARRIOR, briefly dropped his right-side rein shortly before the finish line. g) LONE HORIZON (*K J Lihaba), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W/W Marwing advised (MS). When questioned regarding the improved performance of LONE HORIZON, Trainer W H Marwing explained to the Board that in his opinion, the extra distance of today's race had accounted for the improved performance.
