THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROCK UP (C Maujean) was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. b) ETERNAL SPIRIT (C Zackey) and MARCHLAND (M Yeni) were nervous in the stalls. c) CHATTERBOX (R Fourie) and QUICK SKETCH (K Minnie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h08) b) Leaving the 300m, ETERNAL SPIRIT (C Zackey) had to be steadied and directed outwards when awkwardly placed between MAKEOVER MAGIC (L Mxothwa) and MARCHLAND (M Yeni), which shifted inwards. c) RUNGSTEDLAND (G Wright), which raced green, shifted out away from the crop from the 150m. d) Jockeys R Fourie (CHATTERBOX) and ROCK UP (C Maujean) reported that their respective fillies did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana, acting on behalf of Trainer AC Greeff, was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with CHATTERBOX on her return to the stables. e) MARCHLAND, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM) f) RUNGSTEDLAND, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. Nothing obvious detected. b) ROCK UP - examined post-race. Not striding out left front and mouth injury. c) DAFFODIL DELIGHT - fatigued. d) ETERNAL SPIRIT - fatigued. THERE WERE NO SCRATCINGS.
