The start of this race was delayed due to the late arrival of the horses at the start. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUANDURA (K de Melo) and HOLLYWOOD HEIRESS (K Matsunyane) lost 1 length. b) SHIRAS STAR (R A Venniker) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) At the 1300m LILTING SONG (C Little) and LAST OVATION (C F Dicken) were carried out by HOLLYWOOD HEIRESS (K Matsunyane) which commenced to over race and proved difficult negotiating the early part of the turn. As a consequence, LAST OVATION (C F Dicken) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. c) QUANDURA (K de Melo) hung out from the 300m. d) At the 200m Jockey C Habib (PRINCESS TRIPPI) accidentally dropped his crop. e) At the 100m LILTING SONG (C Little) which shifted out away from the crop, was brushed by PRINCESS TRIPPI (C Habib) which rolled in. f) In view of the performance of OLIVE GROVE (C Zackey) (16.05 lengths, 20/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) RED TAFFETY (J P v'd Merwe), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
