The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROOSTER BRADSHAW (C Zackey) lost 2 lengths. b) DRICUS (S Khumalo) fly-jumped leaving the stalls, lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Shortly after the start CHILL IN THE AIR (R A Venniker) was bumped out by MAGMA MAGIC (T Godden) which jumped out awkwardly leaving the starting stalls. c) At the 1200m NEXT OF KIN (J P v'd Merwe) and PEMBURY (M Michel) were tightened for galloping room when awkwardly placed on the heels of WINTER IN LONDON (M Yeni) and the inside running rail. d) Leaving the 250m TOWN CRIER (C Habib) switched in off the heels of MY LUCKY CHARM (S Veale) which shifted out, to continue its run. e) Jockey S Veale reported that he felt something amiss with MY LUCKY CHARM in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performances of PRINCE OF TROY (K de Melo) (5.05 lengths, 13/2 in the betting) and WINTER IN LONDON (M Yeni) (11.55 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Apprentice A Mosaheb (SERPENTINE FIRE) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. h) MAGMA MAGIC (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A J Rivalland was advised (MM).
