THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RARE EARTH (C Orffer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h54) b) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with HAZEL GREEN. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of LITTLE NIMBUS he misused his crop by striking LITTLE NIMBUS more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. d) LITTLE NIMBUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised.
