THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SAN PEDRO (*S Bungane) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h59) b) As a consequence of being slow to begin, SAN PEDRO (*S Bungane) was obliged to take up a position at the back of the field, which is contrary to his usual racing pattern. Thereafter, Apprentice S Bungane reported that SAN PEDRO failed to respond to his urgings in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey C Little was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of SOMMERSTERN he misused his crop by striking SOMMERSTERN more than 10 times (11) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Little signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1800,00. d) IT IS MY TIME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D McLachlan was advised.
