THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STEEL SPRING (K Matsunyane) was stubborn loading. b) ARTIFACT (M K Katjedi), CORSARO SUPER (K de Melo) and ENDEARING PEACE (C Zackey) were slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) The Board after reviewing the start, was satisfied that all the gates were released on terms, however, STEEL SPRING (K Matsunyane) nudged the gates as they were released. The Board, after reviewing and giving careful consideration to the footage from all available camera angles, was satisfied that this gelding had gained no advantage nor suffered any disadvantage and that this was a fair start. c) LIFE'S TREASURES (P Mxoli) hung in in the concluding stages. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with CORSARO SUPER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) SOSORU (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P Dlhamini, acting on behalf of Trainers M/M de Kock, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) SCORPIO was ridden by Jockey M Michel (declared 2 April 2026 at 07H51). b) STEEL SPRING was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 2 April 2026 at 08H38). Stipes permission as Jockey R Munger had family responsibilities. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ARTIFACT raced with a tongue tie on (declared 1 April 2026 at 08H55). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CORSARO SUPER shin sore. b) SCORPIO abnormal respiratory noise. c) STEEL SPRING coughing post-race. d) STORMACT fatigued.
