THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KEY NEWS (S Naidoo) was nervous in the stalls. b) ONE TOO MANY (W Agrella) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gates. c) FRENCH FLAME (C Zackey) and REAL WAR (*W Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (16h03) b) THE WINTER LAKE (*I Taka) was hanging in and shifted in a significant amount of ground from the 400m, without correction. Apprentice I Taka appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in future engagements. c) Apprentice I Taka was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride THE WINTER LAKE out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chance of obtaining 4th and 5th place. Apprentice I Taka signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended for 21 days. (Dates: 11/04/2026 to 01/05/2026, both dates inclusive) d) Jockey MK Katjedi reported that PRISCILLA MAISEY choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) DIABLO (K Strydom) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K Davis) f) LOTUS SILK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) *W Fourie rode REAL WAR. (declared 07h55 on 20260403) b) KEY NEWS raced without blinkers and with a compression mask. (declared 11h13 on 20260331) c) DIABLO raced with a tongue tie. (declared 23h19 on 20260401) d) K Strydom (DIABLO) rode +1kg of which 0.5kgs was declared. (58.4kgs) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PRISCILLA MAISEY - examined post-race. Coughing. b) KEY NEWS - abnormal respiratory noise. c) DIABLO - bilateral epistaxis. Suspended 60 days. Rule 93.1 applied. d) REAL WAR - choked up. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
