a) ANGEL OF MY HEART (C F Dicken) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) Shortly after the start ANGEL OF MY HEART (C F Dicken) was squeezed between GREEN MILE (S Moodley) which jumped outwards and RAGNAR THE KING (R A Venniker) which jumped inwards leaving the starting stalls. Thereafter, RAGNAR THE KING (R A Venniker) was brushed out by GREEN MILE (S Moodley).
c) RAFIKI (*D Pillay) over raced in the early stages.
d) At the 300m MY LUCKY CHARM (S Veale), and in turn BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel) and RAFIKI (*D Pillay), were carried out by DEANDRE'S DREAM (T Godden), which rolled out.
e) At the 200m DEANDRE'S DREAM (T Godden) was eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of GREEN MILE (S Moodley) which shifted out away from the crop.
Jockey S Moodley was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of GREEN MILE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DEANDRE'S DREAM (T Godden) at approximately the 200m. Jockey S Moodley signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days (Dates to be advised).
f) At the 100m BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel) was brushed out by MY LUCKY CHARM (S Veale) and thereafter, in the concluding stages MY LUCKY CHARM (S Veale) and BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel) came together and brushed on a number of occasions when racing in close proximity.
g) Jockey S Moodley was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of GREEN MILE, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than ten times (11) in the entire race. Jockey S Moodley signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1800.
h) Apprentice A Mosaheb (ZIYAN'S PRIDE) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride.
i) BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee T Ryan acting on behalf of Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (MM).
