The start of this race was delayed due to the reasons stated in the Starters' report below.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) During the loading process NEBULOUS (R A Venniker) and QUENTASIA (*M Mbuto) were released from the stalls and were subject to a late Veterinary examination. These horses were passed fit to race and reloaded.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) Shortly after the start RAFEEF'S CHOICE (*D Pillay), JAZZ DIVA (S Moodley) and AMAFORT (*D Ramkhalawon) were hampered on the inside of TIME IN PARIS (*A Mosaheb), which jumped inwards leaving the starting stalls. As a result, JAZZ DIVA (S Moodley) was squeezed out.
c) At the 350m NEBULOUS (R A Venniker) was steadied when awkwardly placed between AUSTRIAN BEAUTY (M Michel) and GRUE OF ICE (*D D Louw), which rolled out.
d) At the 300m RAFEEF'S CHOICE (*D Pillay) was inconvenienced when close to the heels of JAZZ DIVA (S Moodley), which rolled in.
e) Approaching the 250m AUSTRIAN BEAUTY (M Michel) was steadied in anticipation of being awkwardly placed between the heels of LITTLEBLACKGEM (C Murray), which hung in from the 300m, and GRUE OF ICE (*D D Louw).
f) Apprentice D Ramkhalawon was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline C) in that as the rider of AMAFORT he misused his crop by striking this filly more than two times on consecutive strides in the concluding stages of this race. Apprentice D Ramkhalawon signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1500.
g) In view of the performance of GORGEOUS BOMB (K de Melo) (8.40 lengths, 6/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
h) AMAFORT (*D Ramkhalawon), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts was advised (MM).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) QUEEN FENN raced with alumite bar shoes in front, alumites behind (advised 01.04.2026/08h27).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a) Apprentice D D Louw (GRUE OF ICE) weighed out at 50.8kg and only claimed 2kg of his 2.5kg carded allowance.
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a) GORGEOUS BOMB : Nothing obvious detected.
