THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CLOUDS CLEARING (*K J Lihaba) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) SHADOWLINE (C Habib) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) CLOUDS CLEARING (*K J Lihaba) over-raced in the early and middle stages. As a result, the saddle on CLOUDS CLEARING slipped forward significantly at approximately the 1400m, which placed Apprentice K J Lihaba at a disadvantage and as a consequence, he was unable to ride this filly out to the end of the race. c) At approximately the 600m, CHARGE IT (S Moodley) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of DAISY JONES (K de Melo). d) In view of the performance of STAMPEDE AHEAD (T Godden), (distance, betting 33/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Moodley reported that CHARGE IT did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Race 10 contd. f) Apprentice T Mayhew was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of HAZY DAZY, misused his crop by striking this filly more than ten times (12). Apprentice T Mayhew signed an Admission of Guilt, and a fine of R2,700 was imposed. g) LITTLEMISSMILLION (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
