THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LYRICS AND SONGS (*B Marx-Jacobson) was restless in the stalls and slow into stride. b) TOUCH THE SWORD (*W Fourie) fly-jumped leaving the stalls, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h28) b) Permission was granted for STONE OF SCONE (*N Nastili) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) Shortly after the start was effected WORLD OF DIAMONDS (*G Samo-Burthia) was bumped out slightly by STONE OF SCONE (*N Nastili), which shifted outwards slightly. d) DELAROCHE (*I Taka), PRICELESS TREASURE (*G Dookhit) and WORLD OF DIAMONDS (*G Samo- Burthia) over raced in the early and middle stages. e) TOUCH THE SWORD (*W Fourie) was directed outwards for no apparent reason at approximately the 700m. Thereafter, TOUCH THE SWORD (*W Fourie) shifted out away from the crop at the 500m and then had to be steadied momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of PRICELESS TREASURE (*G Dookhit) at the 200m. Apprentice W Fourie appeared before the Board, in the presence of the Academy Riding Masters, and was questioned as to the reason she directed her mount outwards at the 700m. She stated that she felt there was insufficient room for her mount as it was a big field. The Stewards advised Apprentice W Fourie that her practice of directing her mounts away from the other runners, to race in isolation, had come under notice. The Stewards further advised her that should she continue with this practice of directing her mounts away from other runners when she had no valid reason to do so, a recommendation of corrective measures would be made. The Academy Masters agreed with the Stewards. f) GALACTIC BEAUTY (*J Botes) had to steady momentarily when close to the heels of TOTAL ERUPTION (*D Ramkhalawon), which shifted inwards at the 350m. Thereafter, GALACTIC BEAUTY (*J Botes) shifted out away from the crop from the 300m. g) DELAROCHE (*I Taka) ducked outwards for no apparent reason approaching the 100m. h) ONE SUMMER (*T Mayhew) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of STONE OF SCONE (*N Nastili) shortly before the finish. i) Apprentice G Dookhit was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of PRICELESS TREASURE he misused his crop by striking PRICELESS TREASURE more than 10 times (11) in the race. Apprentice G Dookhit signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 800.00. j) Trainer AC Greeff was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented DELAROCHE incorrectly equipped in the parade ring. Trainer AC Greeff signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. k) LUCKY CHANCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised.
