THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ORANJEMUND (W Agrella) and SAN QUINTIN (J Gates) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
b) TERMINAL VELOCITY (C Habib) and MYSTIC VISION (C Zackey) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h45)
b) LANA VIEW (*J Botes) and ORANJEMUND (W Agrella) over raced in the early and middle stages.
c) TERMINAL VELOCITY (C Habib) was directed outwards when LANA VIEW (*J Botes) was carried outwards and made slight contact with ARIVIDICIO (*G Dookhit), which shifted out away from HOLLANDIA BAKKERIJ (C Little), which shifted out away from the crop from approximately the 300m. Thereafter, HOLLANDIA BAKKERIJ (C Little) shifted inwards away from the crop and carried GOLDEN GREY (R Fourie) inwards shortly before the finish.
Jockey C Little appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances.
d) Jockey S Naidoo reported that KING CELTILLUS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find something amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
e) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with MYSTIC VISION. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) Jockey J Gates reported that SAN QUINTIN was blowing post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g) Jockey C Little was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of HOLLANDIA BAKKERIJ he misused his crop by striking HOLLANDIA BAKKERIJ more than 10 times (12) in the race. Jockey C Little signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 800.00.
