THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h26)
b) Permission was granted for RHYTHM (*N Nastili) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start.
c) Permission was granted to Apprentice G Dookhit to hack PHYSIOLOGUS to the start.
d) MY AMI BEACH (*BA Makhubo) shifted out away from the crop from the 350m.
e) PANJANDRUM (*T Mayhew) had to steady momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of CHERRY OH BABY (*I Taka) at approximately the 100m.
f) The saddle on AWAY WITH RED (*J Botes) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon.
g) Apprentices W Fourie (WHATEVER NEXT) and EJ Muller (CHIEF RUNNER) reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with WHATEVER NEXT on his return to the stables.
h) Apprentices V Jodhee (BASINGSTOKE) and G Dookhit (PHYSIOLOGUS) reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies.
Trainer E Kaknis was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with these fillies on their return to the stables.
i) Apprentice DD Louw reported that STRANGE MAGIC did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
j) Apprentice D Pillay reported that ORIGINATOR changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Trainer JL van Heerden was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
k) All the Apprentices were commended by the Stewards with regard to the manner in which they rode in this race, in compliance with the Rules of the National Horseracing Authority.
l) RHYTHM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. (LM)
