The start of this race was delayed due to DASWA (N Patel) and QHUDE MANIKINIKI (S Veale) proving stubborn to load. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DASWA (N Patel), NORIEGA (*D Pillay) and QHUDE MANIKINIKI (S Veale) were stubborn to load. Trainers G van Zyl (Jnr), Y Govender and W M Masawi respectively will be advised to reschool their horses. b) NORIEGA (*D Pillay) was stubborn to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) PRESSURE POINT (K de Melo) and ETZEBETH (R Fourie) were encouraged forward from a favourable draw to take up a leading position, and as a consequence, raced forward and in advance of the field up until the 400m. c) QHUDE MANIKINIKI (S Veale) was encouraged forward from the 1000m in an attempt to establish contact with the front runners. d) Leaving the 150m GIVE ME A CHANCE (C Zackey) was brushed in by SAIL THE HORIZON (S Hlengwa) which hung in from the 250m. e) Jockey C Zackey reported that GIVE ME A CHANCE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of BOURBON'S BEAST (C Habib) (6.60 lengths, 7/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.1, in that he failed to present DASWA in the parade ring at least 15 minutes before the advertised time of the starting of the Race. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R500. h) QHUDE MANIKINIKI (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W M Masawi was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) GIVE ME A CHANCE : Not striding out right hind. b) BOURBON'S BEAST : Fatigued. c) QHUDE MANIKINIKI : Not striding out left front.
