THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED ( SR) : a) THE MARQUEE (S Moodley) over raced in the early and middle stages. b) DUBAI DUDE (M Michel) commenced to over race for a short distance approaching the 900m. c) Approaching the 200m KING'S ISLAND (R A Venniker) was carried out by EVENTIDOR (*D D Louw) which was directed to the outside of runners to continue its run. d) In the concluding stages TOWN CRIER (C Murray) which had come to the end of its run, and KING'S ISLAND (R A Venniker) came together and bumped. As a result, TOWN CRIER (C Murray) rolled in and was steadied to avoid the heels of THE MARQUEE (S Moodley). e) In view of the performances of THE MARQUEE (S Moodley) (3.60 lengths, 6/1 in the betting) and FOSTINOVO (K de Melo) (5.20 lengths, 3/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer J J van Vuuren will be asked to report back on the condition of FOSTINOVO on return to stables. f) TAM'S KNIGHT (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
