THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BLACK NIGHTSHADE (S Veale) and ODDS AND EVENS (M Yeni) were restless in the stalls.
b) OH ISABELLA (C Little) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter, was slow into stride.
c) SHE'S CHOSEN (C Orffer) jumped outwards.
d) ELUSIVE PROFIT (G Behr) jumped outwards and made slight contact with ODDS AND EVENS (M Yeni).
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (11h52)
b) The saddle on BLACK NIGHTSHADE slipped forward during the canter past. As a consequence, Jockey S Veale dismounted and led this filly to the start.
c) GEORGIE GIRL (*B Plaatjies) was held up for a clear run in the latter stages.
d) OH ISABELLA (C Little) raced green.
e) Trainer H Brown reported that GEORGIE GIRL (*B Plaatjies), on its return to the holding area, had had a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage. This filly is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J de Villiers)
f) In view of the debut performance of REMUNERATION (R Fourie) (Betting 7/2; Distance 7.90 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
g) BLACK NIGHTSHADE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, was advised. (TJ)
