THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPORTS FAN (C Maujean) was stubborn loading. b) HOT SAUCE (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls, kicked the back gates and rushed the front gates. c) PRISCILLA MAISEY (MK Katjedi) and ALESIA'S LOVE (K Minnie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h37) b) Permission was granted for DANISH DYNAMITE (C Habib) and SPORTS FAN (C Maujean) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) Leaving the 500m, BONJOUR LA VILLE (Y Ramzan) commenced to hang out and shifted out away from the crop. d) Jockey C Maujean reported that SPORTS FAN changed stride continuously in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the performances of INSTAWORTHY (G Wright) and HOT SAUCE (R Fourie), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs, acting on behalf of Trainer DG Smith, was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. f) Jockey K Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he struck VIRGIN RIVER with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey K Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. g) ALESIA'S LOVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
