THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process DAISY ROCKER (C F Dicken) became restless in the stalls. This filly was released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) POURSOMESUGARONME (C Little) jumped awkwardly, losing 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) A race review was called into the start, where it was established that as the start was effected, SARAGOSSA CAT (ARG) stumbled badly and made contact with WHATASTAR (A Mgudlwa), and thereafter took another awkward stride, stumbled again and made contact with TEQUILA SKY (T Godden). The Board was satisfied that SARAGOSSA CAT (ARG) had not been impeded by the starting stalls or by the handler allocated to it and deemed this horse to be a runner and therefore took no further action. Jockey K de Melo, feeling something was amiss with this filly, did not persevere with his riding and eased SARAGOSSA CAT (ARG) out of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer M N Prinsloo has undertaken to report back to the Stewards on the condition of SARAGOSSA CAT (ARG) upon return to stables. c) Leaving the 1000m DARLINGBUDSOFMAY (N Patel) was bumped and unbalanced by TEQUILA SKY (T Godden) which commenced to over race and rolled out away from the heels of CAPTAIN VENTURA (R A Venniker). d) DAISY ROCKER (C F Dicken) hung in, in the straight. e) DE VLUGGE (M Michel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G I Rich was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Jockey C Little (POURSOMESUGARONME) weighed out at 58.2kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) SARAGOSSA CAT (ARG) : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) SHE'S A MACHINE : Elevated temperature (Trainer - 17.04.2026/08h38). Rule 53.5 applies. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
