THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KENTUCKY LASSIE (W Agrella) and IZANAMI (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length. b) WHIRLYBIRD (C Zackey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (16h02) b) Permission was granted for UMZOLOZOLO (MK Katjedi), WHIRLYBIRD (C Zackey) and GENOVEFA (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) During the loading process, it was communicated to the Starter that there was a technical issue in the boardroom. Horses already loaded were removed from the stalls until the issue was resolved. d) WHIRLYBIRD (C Zackey) was brushed inwards by GENOVEFA (M Yeni), which shifted inwards shortly after the start. Thereafter, WHIRLYBIRD (C Zackey) over raced in the early and middle stages. e) In view of the performance of BACK FOR MORE (R Fourie) (Betting 7/2; Distance 7.15 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this mare on her return to the stables. f) GENOVEFA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
