En route to the start VIHAAN'S BOMB dislodged Jockey C Murray, bolted and returned to the back saddling enclosure. VIHAAN'S BOMB was taken in hand, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently withdrawn. This caused a delay to the start of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MY BOY LOLLIPOP lost 3 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) TEE DOG hung in from the 200m. c) Jockeys S Veale (TOBACCONIST) and C Zackey (MY BOY LOLLIPOP) reported that they felt something amiss in the running with their respective mounts. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey S Moodley reported that THE MIKADO did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of SWEETER THAN HONEY (26.50 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Apprentice D D Louw was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of FAST AND FREE he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than ten times (11) in the entire race. Apprentice D D Louw signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1800. g) Apprentice D Ramkhalawon appeared before the Board and was advised against the use of the crop when his mount is out of contention for a place. h) HODGEPODGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S H Ferrie was advised (SP). JOCKEY CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Apprentice D Ramkhalawon (TOTAL SURRENDER) weighed out at 51.8kg and only claimed 3kg of his carded 3.5kg allowance. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) TOBACCONIST : Not striding out left hind and coughing. b) MY BOY LOLLIPOP : Nothing obvious detected. c) THE MIKADO : Nothing obvious detected. d) SWEETER THAN HONEY : Not striding out right front. SCRATCHINGS : a) ARCTIC FURY : Reserve runner. b) VIHAAN'S BOMB : Bolted (withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at 18h09, 66/1 in the betting). Immediate reinstatement. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
