THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MILITARY COMMAND, MOJO MAN and CARIBBEAN GOLD lost 1 length.
b) JOHNNY BOY stumbled leaving the stalls and lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) Shortly after the start MOJO MAN and CARIBBEAN GOLD came together and bumped.
c) Shortly after the start BEST OF ALL, SERGEANT SOQRAT, and WHO BLINKED were squeezed out when awkwardly placed between JET LEGACY, which jumped outwards and CHICARITO, which shifted in. As a consequence, JET LEGACY had its hind quarters turned inwards. Thereafter, MAR DEL PLATA was bumped outwards by CHICARITO which shifted out away from WHO BLINKED.
d) In view of the performances of MILITARY COMMAND (10.70 lengths, 7/2 in the betting) and BEST OF ALL (9.50 lengths, 11/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer P B Muscutt will be asked to report back on the condition of MILITARY COMMAND on return to stables.
e) Jockeys C Zackey (XENOPHON) and R A Venniker (SERGEANT SOQRAT) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) Jockey C Little reported that CARIBBEAN GOLD made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g) Apprentice D Pillay reported that JET LEGACY changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
h) Trainer P B Muscutt was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within 2 days that the horse JOHNNY BOY is a gelding. Trainer P B Muscutt signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.
i) CALVALRY COMMANDER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Dixon was advised (SP).
