The start of this Race was delayed due to the 30 minute interval between races as well as Trainer Kaknis having to saddle four horses in this race and Trainer Strydom having difficulty fitting the tongue tie to BELFAST CHILD. LINDA LOVES LACE was stubborn loading and slow away. HOLLYWOOD THUNDER was nervous in the stalls and slow away. BELFAST CHILD was stubborn loading, slow away and lost 3 lengths. KAYLEX was slow into stride. Shortly after the start HOLLYWOOD THUNDER had to steady when awkwardly placed between KAYLEX, which was carried in by YES NO MAYBE, which jumped inwards and LINDA LOVES LACE, which jumped out. Jockey van Rensburg reported that HOLLYWOOD THUNDER changed stride continually in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Thereafter, HOLLYWOOD THUNDER shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. Jockey Agrella reported that HOLA CHIQUITA did not stride out freely in the running. Jockey van 'Rensburg appeared before the Board and when questioned regarding his riding of HOLLYWOOD THUNDER with particular reference to shifting ground, Jockey van Rensburg told the Stewards that he was mindful of the need to secure clear passage for this filly and that is why he had allowed her to shift outwards away from his crop. He added that he was comfortable with the fact that he was clear of other runners when doing so. The Stewards noted Jockey van Rensburg's explanation, he was nevertheless advised against the practice of covering unnecessary ground in races. LINDA LOVES LACE and HOLLYWOOD THUNDER were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. KAYLEX raced without a tongue tie. HOLA CHIQUITA raced equipped with alumites in front, unshod behind. Vet: HOLA CHIQUITA - not striding out both fore. MYSTIC TULIP - abnormal repository noise. HOLLYWOOD THUNDER - examined post-race and nothing obvious detected.
