THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUICKFREEZE jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) Shortly after the start, NIGHT BOMBER and AFRICAN PRINCE came together and bumped. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Shortly after the start, ESPINOZA and ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES were bumped in by QUICKFREEZE, which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) Leaving the 300m, LEAD THE CHARGE was carried out by MAGIC TATTOO, which shifted out away from the crop and was corrected. d) VIBE SA shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) Jockey C Murray reported that he felt something amiss with WHISPERING DEATH in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Jockey C Zackey reported that QUICKFREEZE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) Jockey C Habib was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline C on the use of the crop) in that he struck VIBE SA more than two times on consecutive strides. Jockey C Habib signed an Admission of Guilt, and a fine of R1000 was imposed. i) LEAD THE CHARGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M G Azzie was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WHISPERING DEATH abnormal respiratory noise. b) ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES lame left front. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies. Assistant Trainer C Botha, acting on behalf of Trainer R R Magner, was advised (MB). c) QUICKFREEZE examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. d) LEAD THE CHARGE cut into left hind.
